Withings BodyScan 2 Review: Is This $600 Smart Scale Worth It?
I’ll be honest from the beginning: If you only want to weigh yourself occasionally, you probably don’t need a $600 scale in your bathroom. I’m not even sure why elite athletes would need to track their training progress regularly at such a high cost.
Still, I’m going to make a case for the Withings BodyScan 2. After using this smart scale for a few months, I found that its measurements and connected health ecosystem pushed me to look more closely at my health than ever before. At this point, I’m not sure I could go back to a traditional scale—or even to the Withings Body Smart scale I’ve used for years.

Withings BodyScan 2: A closer look at your health
The BodyScan 2’s hardware doesn’t look dramatically different from other smart scales, aside from its handlebars. Those handlebars signal that the device belongs to the growing category of whole-body scanners and body composition monitors.
However, the BodyScan 2 is sleeker than many of its competitors. Its thin handle includes a small color LCD screen without adding unnecessary bulk. During each measurement, the screen displays your physical metrics in real time, along with simple tips from Withings to help you get the most consistent readings possible.
What the BodyScan 2 measures
The BodyScan 2 offers two types of weighing functions. Daily scans take about 30 seconds and include body weight, estimated muscle and fat percentages for the whole body and individual areas—including the torso, arms, legs, and internal organs—along with estimates of basal metabolic rate, vascular age, and pulse wave velocity.
Only some of these measurements appear live on the scale’s display, but the range of metrics gives the BodyScan 2 a broader health-tracking focus than a standard bathroom scale.
