NASA will provide live coverage of the preparation, launch and docking of SpaceX’s Crew-13 mission to the International Space Station.

Crew-13 launches October 1

SpaceX Crew-13 is scheduled to lift off from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida on Thursday, October 1, at 11:10 a.m. EDT. Docking with the International Space Station is targeted for approximately 7 p.m. EDT.

SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft will carry a crew of four: NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney, CSA astronaut Joshua Kutlik, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergei Tetelyatnikov. The crew will remain aboard the station for an extended mission involving science and other spaceflight activities.

In-person events will be limited to credentialed media members. Media representatives may request additional details about joining the call.

After the main launch broadcast concludes, NASA will provide additional information through voice-only communication as Crew-13, the International Space Station and flight controllers support Dragon’s journey toward the orbital laboratory.

Crew-13’s record-fast trip to the space station

Live NASA coverage will resume as Dragon approaches the space station for rendezvous and docking. The planned journey from launch to docking is scheduled to take 7 hours and 50 minutes on October 1. If completed as scheduled, it will be the fastest journey ever made by a U.S. spacecraft to the International Space Station.

• 5:20 p.m.: Arrival interview begins
• 7:00 p.m.: Targeted docking at the forward-facing port of the station’s Harmony module
• 8:45 p.m.: Hatch opens, followed by a welcome speech

Crew-13 begins its International Space Station mission

After entering the International Space Station, the Crew-13 astronauts and cosmonaut will complete a brief handover with members of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-12 mission.

Crew-12 is scheduled to begin its return to Earth as early as Monday, October 5. NASA plans to release further information about Crew-12’s return after Crew-13 arrives at the station.
