You can keep your response simple by submitting your best guess. To provide a more detailed answer, identify the satellite and instrument that captured the image, describe the spectral bands used, or explain a notable geological or historical feature visible in the scene. If the location reminds you of home or has special meaning, we would love to hear your perspective.
The Prize
There is no prize money or trip to space to view Earth the way satellites and astronauts do. However, successful participants can claim something nearly as rewarding: NASA Earth Observatory puzzler bragging rights.
About one week after the challenge, we will publish the answer at the top of this page. The reveal will include a link to a NASA Earth Observatory Image of the Day story with additional details about the satellite image, its location, and the science behind it. We will recognize the first reader to correctly identify the location and may feature responses that offer especially thoughtful or fascinating observations.
