Tesla Q3 2026 Deliveries Beat Expectations Despite Year-Over-Year Decline
Tesla delivered 486,532 electric vehicles in the third quarter of 2026, a 2.1% decline from the 497,099 vehicles it delivered during the same quarter in 2025.
Despite the year-over-year drop, Tesla stock rose this morning after the company exceeded analysts’ expectations. Analysts had forecast 456,600 deliveries, which would have represented an 8% decline from the third quarter of 2025.
Tesla production increased in Q3 2026
Tesla produced 464,391 vehicles during the third quarter, up 3.7% year over year. Model 3 and Model Y production totaled 457,387 vehicles, an increase of 4.9% compared with the same period in 2025.
The remaining 7,004 vehicles were other models, consisting mostly of Cybertrucks and possibly Semis and Cybercabs. Tesla’s Model S and Model X are now retired. Deliveries in this category fell 39.8% year over year.
Model 3 and Model Y deliveries dipped slightly
Tesla was unable to sell all the vehicles it produced during the quarter. Model 3 and Model Y deliveries totaled 478,237, down 0.6% from the third quarter of 2025.
Deliveries of Tesla’s other models declined significantly, falling 48% to 8,295 vehicles. Combined, the Model 3 and Model Y deliveries and other-model deliveries totaled 486,532 vehicles.
Tesla energy storage deployments rose 9.6%
Tesla’s energy storage business delivered a stronger performance during the three-month period. From the beginning of July through the end of September, the company deployed 13.7 GWh of energy storage products, a 9.6% increase from the previous year.

Tesla is scheduled to announce its third-quarter 2026 financial results on October 21.
