Jupiter will have three times the computing capacity of the current strongest European supercomputer.
Germany’s Partec and France’s Atos have announced that they have joined forces to create Europe’s first supercomputer that will perform a quadrillion calculations per second.
Конзорциумот објави дека склучил договор за снабдување со европската компјутерска компанија со високи перформанси EuroHPC, заеднички проект на Европската унија, европските земји и приватни компании чија цел е промовирање на суперкомпјутери во Европа.
Supercomputers are significantly more powerful than “classic” ones, and Atos and Partec will create an “exascale” that can process a quadrillion calculations per second.
The €500 million contract will enable the consortium to deliver the JUPITER supercomputer to Germany’s Juelich Supercomputing Centre.
“Jupiter will have three times the computing capacity of the current strongest European supercomputer,” the consortium announced, and will cover an area of about four tennis courts.
