Inspector Tom Clough, 38, and Officer Matthew Blaise, 37, were killed on Saturday when a marked armed response vehicle crashed into a Volkswagen Passat on the A66 near Middlesbrough. Police had been pursuing the car moments before the collision.
All five people travelling in the Passat also died. They were identified as Mr Saddington, Michael Robert Cahill, 23, Jacob Matusiak, 23, Theo Ray, 17, and Cole Robert Worthy, 17.
A TikTok video posted in March 2025 by an account believed to belong to Saddington appeared to show him and four other young men involved in a police pursuit. The video has since been removed.
BBC Verify examined 94 seconds of footage showing the car being driven along a footpath and through a park in Ormesby, Middlesbrough. Saddington appeared to be sitting in the back seat.
A second video from the same account, which has also been deleted, appeared to show a passenger smoking while the car’s speedometer displayed 100 mph.
The video later showed another car being set on fire. The identity of the passenger shown in the footage could not be confirmed.
Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner Matt Storey said it was unclear whether the footage was connected to the fatal A66 crash. However, he criticized anyone who failed to give their full attention to the road while driving.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, Mr Storey described filming dangerous driving as “absolutely ridiculous” and said nobody should record themselves or others driving recklessly.
“It would be a worrying situation if this became more prevalent because it is very dangerous,” he added.
