One of the most beautiful roadsters of this millennium could get a successor.
If Alfa Romeo does offer a successor to the 4C, it will be the first known rival to the upcoming Porsche Boxster, which also went electric in its latest edition. Alfa’s trump card is already called the 4E Spider as Alfa boss Daniel Guzafame previously said they might keep the Spider name for the new sports model.
“There are some Alfa Romeo things we don’t kill: one is the Spider and the other is the love of cars,” he told Autocar. “We still love them because it’s a brand. And that is in our ideas, so let’s see if we can realize that plan,” he added.
Guzzafame revealed that the new model may find inspiration in the 33 Stradale, but also in the Duetto Spider, which Pinifarina designed in the 1960s. What is absolutely certain is that the new model will not arrive before 2027.
At the same time, it will retain Alfa’s signature appeal when it comes to driving feel. “It’s not what you hear, it’s what you feel,” he said. Asked about the profitability of such a car, he said: “Alfa Romeo is the Spider, and when you think Spider, you think Alfa Romeo. We are stable enough at the moment and we have the right foundation,” he concluded.
