Earthshot Prize Finalists Highlight Global Climate Solutions

The Earthshot Prize shortlist features community-led initiatives tackling major environmental challenges, including waste reduction, natural regeneration and clean energy.

Indigenous Rangers and AI Bushfire Detection Among Finalists

The finalists include Australia’s Indigenous ranger team and an artificial intelligence-powered bushfire detection and warning platform from Argentina.

Two finalists are from India, where this year’s Earthshot Prize awards ceremony will be held in Mumbai. They are Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, a leading manufacturer of electric three-wheelers, and Mahila Housing Trust, a grassroots organisation pioneering climate resilience initiatives for low-income women.

Earthshot Prize Winners to Receive £1 Million

The finalists were selected from approximately 7,000 nominations submitted from 169 countries.

Five winners will be announced at a ceremony in November, with one winner selected for each of the Earthshot Prize’s five categories:

• Protecting and restoring nature
• Restoring oceans
• Cleaning the air
• Building a waste-free world
• Repairing the climate

Each winner will receive a £1 million prize to help scale their project.

Prince William Says Climate Solutions Must Be Scaled

In addition to Prince William, the Earthshot Prize Council, which selects the winners, includes Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan, actress Cate Blanchett and chef José Andrés.

“The solution is here. The challenge now is scale,” Prince William told the BBC.

“Progress is real, and now we need to accelerate it. That’s exactly why the Earthshot Prize exists.”
