NASA and NFL Launch Inspiration Tour With Game-Day Flyovers and Astronaut Appearances

NASA and the National Football League (NFL) are joining forces to bring the excitement of space exploration, aviation innovation and science to football fans across the United States.

As part of NASA’s new Inspiration Tour, the agency will host aircraft flyovers, astronaut appearances and interactive fan experiences at select NFL games throughout the season.

“This season marks the first time that NASA will participate in an overflight at an NFL game, bringing the excitement of America’s space program directly to fans across the country,” said NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman. “We are returning to the moon, building a lunar base, advancing spacecraft powered by nuclear fission energy, and pushing the boundaries of aeronautics, science and discovery. Achieving these ambitions will require America’s best efforts. Partnering with the NFL gives us a great platform to inspire the next generation to see and imagine the possibilities.”

NASA and NFL Game Schedule

NASA is scheduled to participate in the following NFL games. Additional details will be announced before each event, and more dates may be added.

• Sunday, September 13, 1:00 p.m.: Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Atlanta Falcons
• Sunday, September 20, 1:00 p.m.: Baltimore Ravens vs. New Orleans Saints in Baltimore
• Sunday, October 4, 1:00 p.m.: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Los Angeles Rams
• Sunday, October 11, 1:00 p.m.: New York Jets vs. Cleveland Browns in East Rutherford, New Jersey

NASA Aircraft to Take Part in NFL Flyovers

Flyovers at select NFL games will feature NASA aircraft used for high-speed testing, high-altitude research, astronaut training and other aerospace missions. Regular aircraft operations help maintain the fleet while giving the public an opportunity to see emerging technologies that could influence the future of commercial air travel.

The NASA-NFL partnership is designed to connect sports fans with the agency’s work in space exploration, aeronautics, science and technology. The program also aims to encourage students and families to learn more about careers and opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

NASA’s Inspiration Tour Will Culminate at MAX POWER

Led by NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman, the Inspiration Tour will travel across the United States and bring together representatives from academia, industry and the public sector. The tour will highlight the people, technologies and organizations helping advance America’s leadership in space and aviation.

The tour will conclude with MAX POWER, a public exhibition of American aerospace innovation scheduled for November 7 and 8 at and near NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

The family-friendly event will commemorate America’s historic 250th anniversary and showcase the next generation of aircraft, spacecraft, autonomous vehicles and transportation technologies designed to shape the future of air and space travel.
