NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is transported inside its payload fairing from the Payload Hazardous Materials Maintenance Facility to the SpaceX hangar at Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026. The observatory is being prepared for integration with a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket ahead of launch.
The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will investigate dark energy, the mysterious force accelerating the expansion of the universe. Its advanced scientific instruments will also help astronomers map how galaxies form, grow and evolve by studying the influence of dark matter. NASA is targeting launch from Kennedy Space Center no later than Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026.
