SaxaVord Spaceport in Unst, Shetland, the northernmost point of the UK, is attracting several companies planning to launch small commercial rockets.
Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA) was expected to carry out the first launch from the spaceport, but the company’s plans are now uncertain.
SaxaVord Spaceport said temporary traffic orders linked to the planned rocket launch window had been suspended “until further notice”.
A spokesperson confirmed that no launch-related traffic restrictions would be in place between 10 August and 14 September.
The spaceport thanked the local community for its “continued patience and support” as preparations continue.
In August 2024, an RFA hot-fire engine test at SaxaVord Spaceport ended in an explosion.
HyImpulse Technologies GmbH has also signed an agreement to launch a rocket from Shetland this year.
The mission would mark the second flight of HyImpulse’s SR75 suborbital launch vehicle, following a successful liftoff in Australia.
