The Thunderbolts, also referred to as the New Avengers, include an impressive lineup of characters: John Walker/U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Elena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bob/Sentry (Louis Pullman), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen). Joining them are the Fantastic Four: Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn). Iconic figures like Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart), Beast (Kelsey Grammer), Magneto (Ian McKellen), Mystique (Rebecca Romijn), Nightcrawler (Alan Cumming), and Cyclops (James Marsden) will also make appearances.
Marvel has also teased the inclusion of Gambit (Channing Tatum) and Shu Shang-Chi (Simu Liu). Expect numerous cameos, including Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), who was unveiled in one of the four teasers released last year. Other familiar faces set to appear briefly include Peggy Carter, Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Thor’s adopted daughter Love (India Rose Hemsworth), and Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton).
What does the trailer reveal? It showcases numerous cameos, with superheroes from three different universes uniting while listening to Thor’s ominous narration regarding an unprecedented threat. “I have fought many warriors in my life,” Thor proclaims. “They were far stronger than all of us combined. And they died in the face of an enemy that I fear more than ever. If we don’t come together, everything they sacrificed will be for nothing. Put aside your petty bickering and unite. If we return, we will do so as brothers and sisters. But let me be clear: we will need a miracle.”
Admittedly not the most stirring speech, the trailer culminates with the return of Steve Rogers. Surprisingly, he remains worthy of wielding Mjolnir, Thor’s hammer. Is he the miracle necessary for victory, or is there another miracle in store?
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. Meanwhile, Avengers: Secret Wars is currently scheduled for a December 17, 2027 release, marking the exciting conclusion of Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
