At the AI Summit in San Francisco this week, South Korean President Jae Myung Lee, along with leading business figures and researchers, will collaborate with NVIDIA and ecosystem partners to outline South Korea’s AI advancements.
Building on insights from NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang’s visit to Korea last month, the discussions and announcements made this week are aimed at expanding South Korea’s AI infrastructure and expertise, accelerating the nation’s commitment to becoming a global hub for AI innovation.
Today, NVIDIA and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) officially announced the establishment of a joint AI research lab at the KAIST Kim Jae-cheol AI Graduate School in Seoul, dedicated to advancing agent AI technologies in Korea. This marks the first collaboration of its kind between a Korean university and a global tech leader.
This strategic partnership unites NVIDIA’s comprehensive AI expertise to create a strong academic research program in AI. The collaboration leverages NVIDIA Nemotron Open Model and the NVIDIA AI Cloud, combined with KAIST’s world-class scientific talent, solidifying its status as one of Asia’s premier research institutions.

NVIDIA and SK Celebrate Years of Successful Collaboration
The evening prior to the summit, Huang, SK Group Chairman Choi Tae-won, and teams from SK Hynix, SK Telecom, and NVIDIA gathered for a dinner in Woodside, California (as shown in the featured image above). The warm summer night provided a delightful welcome for South Korean business executives entering Silicon Valley.
NVIDIA and SK have a long-standing partnership, having announced in June an expansion of their collaboration to co-develop memory solutions for NVIDIA platforms, spanning AI infrastructure, personal AI, and physical AI.
In June, SK Telecom also unveiled plans to build an AI infrastructure aimed at fostering innovation in physical AI, robotics, and more within Korea.
