A woman has criticised Anglian Water for introducing a hosepipe ban during a drought while leaving a reported water leak unrepaired for weeks.
Linda Kirby, a receptionist at Polly’s Field Village in Deanery Hill, Braintree, Essex, said she reported the leak in June. Water has been running down Church Lane and creating a puddle beside Chantry Close.
Ms Kirby said she was “very annoyed” that Anglian Water had imposed a hosepipe ban during the drought while the leak continued to waste water.
Anglian Water said its teams were “working hard” during the hot weather and prioritising repairs with the greatest impact on customers’ water supplies.
Ms Kirby, who lives in Halstead, Essex, said she passes the water leak every time she drives to work.
She said: “Why are we paying all of this money when there is water being wasted down a drain?”
“It started as a small trickle and over the weeks it has got bigger – they need to get their act together.”
Residents living near the reported water leak have also voiced their disappointment with Anglian Water.
