We are pleased to announce that NVIDIA has agreed to acquire Hugging Face for $12,930.3 million. This strategic acquisition will help expand the Hugging Face platform, strengthen its infrastructure, and make artificial intelligence more accessible to developers, researchers, businesses, and institutions worldwide.
Over the past decade, Clem, Julian, Thomas, and the Hugging Face team have built a leading global hub for the open model and open-source AI community.
Today, more than 18 million developers, researchers, and creators use Hugging Face to share over 3 million AI models, 500,000 datasets, and 1 million applications. More than 200,000 companies rely on the platform to discover, evaluate, customize, and deploy artificial intelligence solutions.
Hugging Face will remain an open platform for the entire AI ecosystem. Developers will continue to choose the models, frameworks, cloud providers, inference services, and computing platforms that best fit their needs. NVIDIA Compute will not need to be built on or deployed through Hugging Face.
Hugging Face will continue supporting open-source and open-weight models from across the AI ecosystem and from developers around the world. The platform will also maintain support for multi-cloud and multi-accelerator development and deployment, giving builders the flexibility to use the hardware and infrastructure best suited to their projects.
Recently, I co-authored an open letter highlighting the importance of open-weight AI models in the global AI economy. Joined by leaders from across the technology industry, we emphasized a simple principle: open weights expand access to artificial intelligence and help distribute AI leadership across businesses, institutions, and communities.
Open AI models allow startups, businesses, universities, and public institutions to develop advanced capabilities without training every model from scratch. Organizations can select the right model for each specific task, helping AI advance securely while strengthening cybersecurity, supporting digital sovereignty, accelerating innovation, and expanding access to AI in factories, hospitals, farms, classrooms, and businesses worldwide.

NVIDIA has supported open-weight AI models for many years through sustained investment and significant contributions to open-source platforms such as Hugging Face. We believe open models, open datasets, and open tools expand access to AI. As part of this commitment, NVIDIA has contributed hundreds of models and datasets to the Hugging Face community.
