My Favorite Budget Headphones Are at Their Lowest Price Ever
As the person in charge of WIRED Headphone Critic, I get asked the same question all the time: What are the best headphones to buy if you don’t want to spend too much money?
My answer is twofold: wait for a sale or buy Soundcore.
Soundcore is my favorite budget headphone brand. It has built a reputation as an affordable audio staple that delivers performance far beyond its price tag. A great example is the Soundcore Space 2, my current favorite pair of budget over-ear headphones.
The Space 2 launched in April and has gone on sale several times, but this is its lowest price to date—even cheaper than Prime Day.
Soundcore Space 2: The Best Budget Over-Ear Headphones
The Soundcore Space 2 has a lot to offer. It’s discreet and comfortable enough to wear for hours, isn’t too heavy, includes easy-to-use physical button controls, and folds neatly when you need to put it in your bag.
The sound quality and active noise cancellation (ANC) are also much better than you’d expect from headphones costing just over $100. The ANC muffles background noise, allowing for a more comfortable listening volume than many other budget headphones.
Battery life is particularly impressive: up to 50 hours with ANC turned on and 70 hours with ANC turned off. That’s longer than the battery life offered by many over-ear headphones from major brands such as Sony, Bose, and Apple.

Soundcore Liberty 5
A great pair of earbuds for under $100. The Liberty 5 doesn’t have the impeccable call quality of the Liberty 5 Pro, but it’s smaller, slimmer, and more comfortable in your ears.
Available for $82 at Amazon and $90 at Best Buy.
Soundcore AeroFit 2
The AeroFit 2 is an older version of Soundcore’s open-ear earbuds. At $80, it’s an affordable way to try the open-ear design without investing a lot of money—after all, not everyone likes the form factor.
Available for $80 at Amazon and B&H Photo.
