Bradford Businesses Can Claim Up to £16,000 for Cleaner Vehicle Upgrades
Small businesses, charities and other organisations in Bradford could receive financial support to upgrade their vehicle fleets through the Zero Emissions Grant Programme, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Grants of up to £16,000 for vehicle improvements
The programme, funded by the Labour Government, will allow eligible businesses to claim up to £16,000 for improvements to larger vehicles and up to £4,500 for smaller vehicles.
Bradford Council said the grant fund would provide practical support to help businesses remain competitive while adapting to new vehicle technology.
“We want to help organisations upgrade their fleets and position them for future success,” Place said.
“I hope this appeals to people in the industry. They are the people who run the country every day.”
Rising fuel costs increase pressure on businesses
Petrol and diesel prices have increased significantly since the US-Israel-Iran war. The average price of petrol in the UK is currently 173.2p per litre, while diesel costs 199.9p per litre.
Rising fuel costs are adding to pressure on companies that rely on commercial vehicles, making fleet efficiency and cleaner vehicle technology increasingly important.
Businesses consider decarbonising their fleets
Mark Cassi, from the West Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the plans and said many companies were looking to decarbonise their fleets.
“All the big companies that have fleets are looking at this issue very carefully and it’s very high on their agenda,” Cassi said.
“It’s the right thing to do and it’s what customers want. It’s driven by customer demand and moral responsibility.”
