Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro Support Ends October 13, 2026

Microsoft will stop providing updates for Windows 11 version 24H2 Home and Pro editions on October 13, 2026. After that date, affected devices will no longer receive monthly security updates or non-security preview updates.

The end-of-support date also applies to Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 2016, according to a Microsoft Message Center update.

Windows 11 24H2 Enterprise and Education support continues

Windows 11 24H2 Enterprise and Education editions are not affected by this deadline. Under Microsoft’s Windows lifecycle policy, those editions will continue receiving mainstream support until October 2027.

Microsoft recommends upgrading to Windows 11 25H2

Microsoft is encouraging customers using Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro to upgrade to Windows 11 version 25H2, also known as the Windows 11 2025 Update. The update became generally available in September 2024 as a minor release delivered through an enablement package.

Eligible, unmanaged Windows 11 Home and Pro devices can be upgraded to version 25H2 through Windows Update. Microsoft says users can check for the update by opening Settings > Windows Update and selecting Check for updates.

If the device is ready, Windows Update will provide the option to download and install Windows 11 version 25H2. Users can also choose when to restart or pause updates.

Microsoft says that after October 13, 2026, devices running Windows 11 24H2 Home and Pro will no longer receive updates that provide protection against the latest security threats.

Other Microsoft support deadlines

Last week, Microsoft announced that mainstream support for Windows Server 2022 is approaching its end. The operating system will then enter extended support, which is scheduled to continue until October 14, 2031.

Earlier this year, Microsoft quietly extended the free Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for home users until October 2027. Microsoft also stopped deploying security updates to devices running Windows 11 Home and Pro version 23H2 in November 2025.
