Portrait Light: After taking a portrait selfie, you can adjust the lighting in Google Photos. Open the image, tap Edit, then select Actions > Portrait Light. This Google Photos editing tool adds adjustable artificial light that you can position anywhere in the photo to brighten your face and reduce the appearance of a five o’clock shadow. Use the slider at the bottom of the screen to control the light intensity. Portrait Light also works with older photos taken in Portrait mode, although the effect applies only to faces.
Health and accessibility features
Cough and snoring detection (Tensor G2 and later): Pixel 7 and newer phones can detect coughing and snoring while you sleep. To use this feature, place your Pixel near your bed before going to sleep and enable Google’s Bedtime mode. You can turn it on by navigating to Settings > Digital Wellbeing and parental controls > Bedtime mode.
Guided Frame (Tensor G2 and later): Guided Frame helps people who are blind or visually impaired take selfies using audio instructions in the Camera app. It works with both the front and rear cameras, but TalkBack must be enabled first. Go to Settings > Accessibility > TalkBack, then open the Camera app. Guided Frame will automatically provide instructions to help you compose the shot.
Simple View: Simple View increases the size of text and other on-screen elements, including widgets and Quick Settings tiles. It also improves touch sensitivity, making your Pixel easier to see and operate. To enable this accessibility feature, go to Settings > Accessibility > Simple View.
Safety and security features
Anti-theft: Introduced with Android 15, Google’s theft protection features can detect when someone forcibly takes your Pixel from your hand. If the person attempts to flee, the phone can automatically lock. You can also use Remote Lock from another device to lock a stolen Pixel with your phone number and a security challenge. To enable these features, go to Settings > Security & Privacy > Unlock your device > Anti-theft.
Identity verification: When your Pixel detects that you are in an unfamiliar location, Identity Check requires fingerprint or facial recognition before allowing changes to sensitive settings. This extra layer of protection can help secure your phone if it is lost or stolen. Enable it by navigating to Settings > Security & Privacy > Unlock your device > Anti-theft > Identity Check.

Private Space: Pixel phones running Android 15 or later can hide and lock selected apps with Private Space. You can use a separate Google Account, create an additional lock, and install apps that remain hidden from your main app list. Satellite SOS (Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 series, excluding Pixel 9a): Like Apple’s Emergency SOS via satellite, Satellite SOS lets you contact emergency services and emergency contacts when cellular service and Wi-Fi are unavailable. The feature is supported in the continental United States, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, and select regions in Europe.
