When it is not wearing the classic F-91W design, Casio often turns to the G-Shock GA-2100, widely known by its “CasiOak” nickname. Its distinctive octagonal case recalls the shape of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, helping make the affordable G-Shock one of the most popular entry points into luxury-inspired watch design. Swatch took a similar approach with its colorful Royal Oak-inspired Royal Pop collection.
Now, leaked reports suggest that Casio may be preparing another eye-catching addition to its G-Shock catalog. Images shared by Notebookcheck and Instagram appear to show the upcoming GMC-2500 and GAC-2500 models. Both watches feature design details that invite comparisons with high-end sports watches, including the prominent case shoulders associated with the Patek Philippe Nautilus.
Casio has not officially confirmed the rumored G-Shock 2500 models or responded to requests for comment. Until an announcement is made, specifications, availability, and pricing should be treated as unconfirmed.
The design comparisons are rooted in watchmaking history. In 1972, Gérald Genta created the angular Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, a stainless-steel sports watch powered by a high-end movement. The model helped establish the luxury sports watch category. Four years later, Genta designed another influential timepiece: the Patek Philippe Nautilus.
The rumored GAC-2500 is expected to be a resin-based model, while the GMC-2500 could feature a stainless-steel construction or metal bezel. The design is reportedly inspired by the original DW-5000C, the first G-Shock released in 1983. Watch fans have already begun using nicknames such as “CasioNaut” and “CasioTilus” to describe the luxury-inspired styling.
Early reports suggest that the resin models could launch in white, black, green, and yellow. Estimated pricing is around 20,900 yen—approximately $134—while a metal version could cost about $320. These prices would make the new G-Shock watches a far more accessible alternative to luxury sports watches such as the Royal Oak and Nautilus, though Casio has yet to confirm official prices or release dates.
