An investigation has been launched into allegations that land near a protected nature reserve in Worcestershire is being used to illegally dump medical waste.
The Environment Agency (EA) is investigating the site off Mill Lane, near Wadborough. The land is close to Great Braythorn Meadow, a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
A local resident, who asked not to be named, told the BBC that a mud spreader typically used to distribute farm fertiliser was allegedly being used to spread medical waste.
The Environment Agency said it is working with West Mercia Police, Wychavon District Council and Worcestershire County Council as part of the investigation into the alleged illegal waste dumping.
An EA spokesperson said: “Waste crime hurts communities and the environment and we are moving quickly to tackle illegal activity in line with our 10-point plan.”

Natural England says the site is important because of its biological interest, including rare lowland meadow and grassland habitats that are considered a priority for protection.
