Greenhouse Gas Emissions Since 2015 Made Europe’s 2025 Heatwave One-Third of a Degree Hotter
How emissions intensified the 2025 European heatwave
Greenhouse gases released since 2015 contributed to the severity of Europe’s recent heatwave. The period began when countries adopted the Paris Agreement to curb global warming.
Researchers found that the 2025 heatwave would have been approximately one-third of a degree cooler without greenhouse gas emissions released since 2015.
