Apple has released version 27.2 of its operating systems, bringing major Siri AI updates to iOS, macOS, watchOS, and visionOS, along with contextual suggestions, expanded data access controls, new language support, and other platform-specific changes.
iOS 27.2 expands Siri AI features
iOS 27.2 focuses heavily on Siri AI. Siri now includes a memory feature that allows it to “recall past conversations” and refer to them during later chats. The data sources Siri can use when responding have also expanded to include voicemails, message attachments, and more.
Apple has also added an “Exclude apps” option, allowing users to “choose which apps Siri, Search, and Suggestions can access.” Siri AI is now available in five additional languages: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. However, Siri AI is still unavailable in Europe and mainland China.
The Siri AI features are available on all iPhone models starting with the iPhone 16, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Other iOS 27.2 additions include context-aware suggestions in Messages. For example, Siri may recognize an invitation and suggest turning it into a calendar entry. The update also adds support for SynthID watermarks in photos and user profiles in the Apple TV app.
Alongside new Apple Music branding, previously promised Apple Pencil support may also be coming to the foldable iPhone Duo.
Updates across Apple’s other platforms
macOS Golden Gate 27.2 includes several of the same features as iOS 27.2, including contextual memory for Siri and support for the additional Siri AI languages. The update also contains other unspecified bug fixes.
Apple Watch receives broadly similar Siri-related updates. visionOS 27.2 adds the new languages and updated music icons.
Possible gesture features in macOS
As previously reported, the beta release of macOS 27.2 contains several references to new gesture-recognition features for apps including Photos, Notes, and Safari.
Those references may be related to unconfirmed reports that Apple is preparing touch support for the next MacBook Pro refresh. The report is expected to be discussed at a public briefing scheduled for this Wednesday.
Apple has also published its update notes for iOS and macOS.
