RemoveMacAI Lets Mac Users Remove Unwanted Apple Intelligence Features
RemoveMacAI, an open-source tool discussed by its developers on Reddit, gives Mac users a way to remove some or all Apple Intelligence features they do not want on their computers.

The developers said the tool uses configuration profiles and Apple’s proprietary asset services, which users approve in System Settings. System Integrity Protection remains enabled, and the tool does not directly modify anything in /System.

The interest in RemoveMacAI reflects an aversion among some users to some or all of Apple Intelligence’s features, even as Apple increasingly emphasizes AI-powered devices and software updates for its computers and other products.
One user responding to RemoveMacAI on Hacker News wrote:
“I remember all the decrements that were required every time I installed Windows. Even with macOS, I seem to have reached a point where I need to run a third-party script on a new OS installation to take back control of system resources and remove unwanted crapware.”
While many users are happy to use Apple Intelligence on their devices, RemoveMacAI offers other Mac users a simple way to regain control over the presence of Apple Intelligence features that Apple previously provided.
