Lara Croft has been exploring ancient ruins and battling dangerous wildlife for nearly 30 years, ever since the original Tomb Raider launched in 1996.
Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis revisits Lara Croft’s classic adventures, including her thrilling expedition through Peru.
Although this is not the first remake of the original Tomb Raider, Jeff Adams, director of experience at co-developer Crystal Dynamics, says updating the iconic action-adventure game requires a “very delicate formula.”
“We have to be very careful about where we change things, but it’s done in an attempt to bring it into the modern gameplay space.”
As for why players still want to step into the role of the dual-wielding adventurer three decades later, Flying Wild Hog creative director Michał Kuku says Lara’s appeal goes far beyond her athletic abilities.
“It’s also a matter of attitude, energy and confidence,” he added.
