Sam Altman Wins Dismissal of Sexual Abuse Lawsuit Filed by Sister
A U.S. district judge dismissed a lawsuit against OpenAI CEO Sam Altman after his sister, Ann Altman, failed to attend three independent medical examinations required in the case.
District Judge Zachary Bluestone said Ann Altman had been warned that failing to attend the examinations could result in the case being dismissed. He ruled that she had “failed to meaningfully prosecute” her claims despite multiple accommodations and opportunities.
Judge dismisses lawsuit with prejudice
“Because Annie continues to violate her discovery obligations and perseveres in halting this litigation, the court has exhausted its options and dismisses her claims with prejudice,” Judge Bluestone wrote in his order.
The lawsuit was filed on January 6, 2025, in the Eastern District of Missouri. Ann Altman alleged that her older brother began sexually abusing her in 1997, when she was 3 years old and Sam Altman was 12. She claimed the abuse continued until 2006.
Sam Altman has denied the allegations.
Altman family denies allegations
In a joint statement released by Sam Altman, his mother and his two brothers, the family said they were concerned about Ann Altman’s mental health and had spent years supporting her financially and helping with her care.
The family said Ann Altman receives monthly financial support covering bills and rent, as well as medical assistance. They also said that her claims against Sam Altman had changed dramatically over time but were “completely false.”
The family added that the allegations were made after Ann Altman repeatedly asked for more financial support.
