Smith said demand for eclipse glasses surged at the last minute, describing sales as “insane” and explaining that she had to repeatedly contact the gym for additional supplies.
“They haven’t been able to replace the stock quickly enough,” she said.
“We’re working hard to fulfil every order, but it has been challenging.”
“We apologise to everyone who was unable to get a pair of eclipse glasses.”
Smith said Jim was “delighted” by the strong demand, particularly from young science enthusiasts eager to watch the eclipse safely. He added that many children from the local area had come to Sefton Park, putting on their eclipse glasses and climbing to the highest hill for the best possible view.
“They have all been telling me about it, so hopefully they will enjoy a great view of the eclipse. On a clear night, it should be visible across the park.”
