Boox Announces Three New E Ink Devices, Including the Color Note Air6 C and Palma 3

It’s that time of year: The weather is finally starting to cool down, most stores are filling with Halloween decorations, and technology companies are rolling out their fall product launches. Last week brought Apple’s annual September iPhone event. Last night, another technology announcement arrived—this time for a more niche audience. (That said, foldable smartphones are still in their infancy.)

Fans of E Ink devices, which use a display technology designed to mimic the look of ink on paper, have likely encountered Boox’s lineup of E Ink digital notebooks and tablets. One of the company’s most popular products is the smartphone-sized Palma. Boox has now announced the third-generation Palma, along with two new digital note-taking devices.

Here’s a closer look at all three new Boox products, including which devices are available now and which ones I’m most excited to test as WIRED’s resident E Ink device tester.

Boox launches three new E Ink devices

Boox has launched three new E Ink products: the Boox Note Air6 C ($580), Boox Note Mini C ($580), and Boox Palma 3 ($340).

Boox Note Air6 C: A color E Ink Android tablet

The Note Air6 C is the newest addition to Boox’s Note Air series, which I previously tested for WIRED’s guide to the best digital notebooks. These devices are essentially E Ink Android tablets that include a stylus, making them useful as powerful digital notebooks.

The Note Air6 C runs Android 16 and features a tablet-style user interface with support for apps. The “C” stands for color: This model includes a 10.3-inch Kaleido 3 color display.

The device also includes new firmware with a Dual Note feature, allowing users to annotate two documents side by side. Additional AI features include meeting and audio insights, as well as document summaries.

The Boox Note Air6 C is the only one of the three newly announced devices currently available.

Boox Note Mini C: A smaller color E Ink notebook

The Boox Note Mini C costs the same as the larger Note Air6 C but has a smaller 8.52-inch screen. It uses the same Kaleido 3 color display and is designed for more portable, one-handed use compared with the larger Note Air6 C.

The Note Mini C and Note Air6 C have similar performance specifications. Both include an octa-core processor, 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. Storage can be expanded up to 2TB with a microSD card.

For most shoppers, size will be the main difference when choosing between the two devices rather than processing power. The Boox Note Mini C is not yet available, but Boox says it will be coming soon.

Boox Palma 3

The third-generation Boox Palma is the smartphone-sized E Ink device in the company’s latest product announcement. Boox has priced the Palma 3 at $340.
