The Everlane ReNew Transit Backpack is an affordable, lightweight laptop backpack with a clean, understated design. It is a strong choice for work, travel, and everyday use, especially if you want a professional-looking bag without spending a fortune.
I used this backpack on a week-long work trip and found that its 27-liter capacity provided enough room for a full day of travel. It easily held a laptop, tablet, water bottle, snacks, a scarf, and other in-flight essentials. The slim, streamlined shape sits comfortably against your back and makes it easier to navigate crowded trains and subway cars.
Storage is fairly simple, with an external laptop compartment, an internal tablet sleeve, an interior zippered pocket, and two large catch-all compartments. The layout works best if you already organize smaller items in pouches, but it keeps the bag lightweight and easy to use.
A few details feel less polished. The curved main-compartment zipper can snag, one catch-all pocket is positioned on the front flap, and the luggage pass-through is made from exposed webbing.
