ChatGPT Outage Prevents Users From Logging In and Loading Chats
ChatGPT is experiencing a widespread outage that is preventing users from signing in, creating new accounts, sending messages, and loading previous conversations.
The outage began on Wednesday, August 19, at approximately 8:00 p.m. ET and is affecting users worldwide, including customers in the United States and Europe.
When attempting to use ChatGPT, affected users may see continuously loading sidebar animations, missing chat histories, or failed message requests displaying a “too many simultaneous requests” error. New account registrations and logins at chatgpt.com are also failing for some users.

ChatGPT and OpenAI services affected
The disruption also affects Codex, OpenAI’s coding platform. OpenAI is aware of the problems and is providing updates through its official status page.
OpenAI said it identified login issues affecting several services and is “working to implement mitigations.”
The outage also extends to the OpenAI API. Up to 12 API endpoints were listed as experiencing problems on the company’s status page, potentially affecting applications and services that rely on OpenAI’s developer platform.
Update 1: As of 8:15 p.m. ET, OpenAI had identified the incident and marked it as ongoing approximately 14 minutes after the outage began. ChatGPT access and testing continued to experience problems.
