Use Google like it’s 1998: This page takes you back to the beginning

Google’s current search is the result of two and a half decades of fine-tuning and is infinitely more useful than its predecessor. When Google Search first appeared in 1998, it looked much simpler, as you’d expect from websites of that era.

However, the old charm of the classic search page still has a lot of appeal, especially for people who think modern search is overcrowded. If you’re one of them, there’s good news: you can take the nostalgia route and feel like it’s 1998 all over again.

Back then, the Google logo still had an exclamation point, and this page brings you the old Google search. There are multiple years to choose from, including 2009, 2011, and 2013, which are all years when major visual changes were made. This website mimics the way a Google search used to return results, with a drop-down menu to select the number of results to display per page and an “I’m Feeling Lucky” button.
