The journey began with a bonding experience in Belgium, followed by a memorable trip to Hampshire.
According to Jason Palmer, the curator of collections at the park, months of meticulous planning were required to successfully relocate the wolf, involving collaboration with the European Zoological Association and the aquarium’s species coordinator.
“Wolves are incredibly complex social creatures, making their care in captivity a significant challenge,” he stated.
“We are eagerly looking forward to welcoming all our visitors.”
The gray wolves that previously arrived at the park in 2010 encountered health issues related to age. Sadly, Cedar, Idaho, and Rocky passed away, leaving Chaser and Aspen alone.
As wolves are social animals that thrive in packs, the deterioration of Chaser’s health raised concerns about Aspen’s well-being among the park team.
