Volvo XC60 T8 Plug-In Hybrid Delivers 78 Miles of Electric Range

The Volvo XC60 T8 plug-in hybrid is powered by a 37.9 kWh usable battery pack, with a 41.2 kWh gross capacity. The setup gives the SUV an EPA-rated electric range of 78 miles (125 km).

Volvo says that range is enough for three days of daily driving. Data shows that the median round-trip commute for Volvo drivers in the United States is 22 miles (35 km). Based on that figure, the XC60 T8 should be able to travel 590 miles (949 km) between stops with a full battery and a full tank of gas.

Volvo XC60 T8 production expands to South Carolina

Another significant change for the XC60 is that production will begin at Volvo’s plant in South Carolina, alongside the existing production line in Sweden. The United States is a major market for the XC60, while the current tariff regime strongly encourages local vehicle production.

The Volvo XC90 also gets long-range plug-in hybrid capability

Volvo’s large three-row SUV has only recently been updated and has not received the same styling changes as the smaller XC40 and XC60. However, the automaker has not completely forgotten about the XC90.

Like the smaller SUV, the XC90 features a Gemini-enabled infotainment system running on an 11.2-inch screen, introduced as part of a previous update. The XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid also uses the same high-capacity 37.9 kWh usable battery, giving the larger SUV an all-electric range of 73 miles (117 km).
