After testing dozens of sofas and hearing feedback from other WIRED reviewers, the author says Joybird’s Elliott Sleeper Sofa is the model they have kept and used for more than a year. The sleeper sofa is currently discounted during Joybird’s semi-annual sale, which ends November 1, with 30 percent off sitewide and savings of up to 40 percent on selected best-selling items.
Joybird’s semi-annual sale
Joybird’s semi-annual sale offers 30 percent off the entire site. Selected best-selling items are discounted by as much as 40 percent. Most products include a limited lifetime warranty and free premium courier delivery.
Joybird furniture is made to order, so it generally takes longer to ship than furniture from other retailers unless the product is specifically marked “Ready to Ship.” Customers can also order a free swatch kit to choose a fabric. The author says it may not arrive in time for the current sale, although Joybird usually runs similar promotions around Black Friday.

The author describes the Elliott Sleeper Sofa as comfortable without being so soft that it becomes difficult to get out of. It includes a built-in pull-out mattress and has received positive feedback from the author and their guests. During a particularly hot summer, before air conditioning had been installed, the author slept on the sofa for a week while the living room was “about 100 million degrees” and still managed to rest. The reviewed model has a premium Tempur-Pedic Response memory foam mattress.

What to know before buying
The sofa has several minor drawbacks. Its buttons can collect crumbs, the armrests are too narrow to comfortably support a drink, and the cushions sometimes need to be readjusted. Even so, the author reports having taken many comfortable naps on it and says it remains comfortable to sleep on when unfolded. After more than a year of daily use, the sofa still looks new.

The author has not personally tested Joybird’s chairs, beds, or accent furniture, so cannot assess their quality. However, the fact that the Elliott Sleeper Sofa has remained in the author’s home since its review is presented as evidence of its durability and appeal. The Joybird sale ends November 1.
