The holiday season is approaching, and Govee’s Christmas Lights 2 smart string lights are available at a notable discount. The lights are designed for Christmas trees, porches, furniture and other indoor or outdoor spaces, while Govee’s feature-rich app supports extensive color, brightness and animation controls.
Govee Christmas Lights 2 is a budget choice in our guide to the best smart Christmas lights. The current deal takes 25 percent off: a 66-foot length is $25 off, making it suitable for an average tree, while the 328-foot version is discounted by up to $100 and can cover a front yard. The source says it has not seen the lights at this price since Black Friday last year.
Govee Christmas Lights 2 — $75 at Amazon, reduced from $100. The 20-meter version is also listed at £80 at Currys.
Designed for indoor and outdoor use
The string lights have an IP67 rating and can withstand extreme temperatures, making them suitable for a range of locations. Outdoor installations require an outlet, and a weatherproof electrical box can help protect the connection.
The light string is green, allowing it to blend with real or artificial Christmas trees, as well as outdoor trees and shrubs. Its spool is designed to make untangling and installation easier. The lights connect to the Govee app over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and they can also be added to a compatible smart home ecosystem through Matter.
A small control unit includes a power button, although the source notes that connecting this control directly to a smart home for remote operation and automated scheduling would be useful.
Extensive lighting effects in the Govee app
The Govee app may take a few minutes to learn, but it offers more than basic color and brightness adjustments. Using a phone’s camera, users can map the lights and select complex animated effects. The app includes well over 100 presets and can also generate effects based on a user’s interests.
Despite the Christmas branding, the lights can be used throughout the year. Available effects range from Halloween-themed animations to simple white lighting suitable for everyday use. The source says the lights have been used outdoors for several years and are still working.
