Motorola’s Signature 27 will combine Google’s Gemini Intelligence features with Motorola’s Qira AI platform, while also becoming the first Motorola smartphone covered by the company’s partnership with GrapheneOS. The $1,599.99 phone will not ship with GrapheneOS installed, but owners will be able to install the privacy-focused Android-based operating system themselves. Motorola plans to launch the device on November 26, with pre-orders opening November 19.
Google Gemini features are coming to the Signature 27
The Signature 27 will be a full Gemini Intelligence device, giving it access to Google’s broadest collection of AI capabilities. Motorola said the phone will support Google’s agent app control, Create My Widget, Sign-to-Text and Rambler voice input.
Most of these features remain exclusive to Pixel smartphones, however. Motorola expects them to arrive on the Signature 27 “in the coming months.”
Motorola Qira brings the company’s AI tools together
Motorola will continue offering its own AI features alongside Google’s software. Catch me up, which summarizes notifications, and Pay Attend, which creates meeting notes, will remain available, although Motorola appears to have removed the Moto AI branding.
Instead, these tools are now part of Motorola Qira, an AI platform designed to connect Motorola phones with Lenovo computers.
GrapheneOS support gives buyers another option
For users who do not want Google’s services and tracking features, the Signature 27 offers another option. It is the first Motorola smartphone included in the company’s partnership with GrapheneOS, a privacy-focused operating system built on Android.
Motorola will not ship the Signature 27 with GrapheneOS preinstalled. Buyers will need to install it themselves. Motorola plans to provide details about the process later, but the procedure is expected to resemble the process on Pixel phones: unlock the bootloader, flash the software and install the operating system.
A $1,599.99 flagship phone
The GrapheneOS team said several months ago that the first device from the Motorola collaboration would cost more than a Pixel phone. Motorola is pricing the Signature 27 at $1,599.99, putting it above even premium flagship smartphones from Samsung and Apple.
Foldable phones, including the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Motorola’s own Razr Fold, are listed at a $1,900 MSRP, making them roughly $300 less expensive than the Signature 27. The iPhone Duo is only $400 more expensive than Motorola’s new flagship slab.
Release date and availability
Motorola has not announced any carrier partnerships for the Signature 27. The phone will be available directly from Motorola, Best Buy and Amazon when it launches on November 26. Pre-orders will begin on November 19.
