NASA SpaceX Crew-12 Return: Undocking and Splashdown Schedule
NASA and SpaceX are targeting no later than 8:05 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, Oct. 7, to undock NASA’s SpaceX Crew-12 mission from the International Space Station, weather conditions permitting.
Following undocking, NASA astronauts Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway, ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrei Fezyaev are scheduled to splash down off the coast of California on Thursday, Oct. 8, at approximately 11:34 a.m. EDT.
How to Watch NASA Crew-12 Return Coverage
NASA’s Crew-12 return coverage will be streamed across a variety of platforms. Coverage times are listed below in Eastern time and may change based on real-time mission operations.
Mission managers continue to monitor conditions in the recovery area. SpaceX Dragon’s undocking depends on spacecraft readiness, recovery team readiness, weather conditions in the Pacific Ocean off California, and other factors.
NASA Crew-12 Undocking Schedule: Wednesday, Oct. 7
- 6:00 a.m.: Coverage of hatch closure begins.
- 6:20 a.m.: Hatch closes.
- 7:45 a.m.: Undocking coverage begins.
- 8:05 a.m.: SpaceX Dragon undocking.
After undocking coverage concludes, NASA will provide audio-only communications between Crew-12, the International Space Station, and flight controllers as Dragon exits the orbital complex. Listen to the audio coverage.
NASA Crew-12 Splashdown Schedule: Thursday, Oct. 8
- 10:20 a.m.: Return interview begins.
- 10:46 a.m.: Deorbit burn.
- 11:34 a.m.: Splashdown off the coast of California.
- 1:15 p.m.: International Space Station briefing on the return of Crew-12 and the launch of SpaceX Commercial Supply Service 35.
