Albania to Become the 73rd Signatory of the Artemis Accords

The Republic of Albania will become the 73rd signatory to the Artemis Accords during a ceremony at NASA Headquarters in Washington on Monday, September 21, at 12:00 p.m. EDT.

NASA Ceremony to Welcome Albanian Officials

NASA Deputy Administrator Matt Anderson and U.S. State Department officials will welcome Albanian Minister of European Affairs and Foreign Affairs Ferit Hoxha and Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to the United States Irvin Bushati.

The ceremony is open to individuals only. Media interested in participating should RSVP to [email protected] by 10 a.m. on September 21. NASA’s media accreditation policy is available online.

What Are the Artemis Accords?

In 2020, under the first Trump administration, the United States, led by NASA and the State Department, signed the Artemis Accords with the other seven founding nations in response to growing interest in lunar activities by governments and the private sector.

The Artemis Accords introduced a set of practical principles designed to strengthen the safety, transparency, and coordination of civilian space exploration, including missions to the Moon and Mars.
