NASA’s Long-Term Artemis and Moon Exploration Plans
As part of what NASA describes as a golden age of innovation and exploration, the agency will send Artemis astronauts on increasingly difficult missions near the moon’s south pole. These missions are intended to expand lunar exploration, support economic benefits, advance scientific discovery and establish a permanent human presence on the lunar surface.
NASA also plans to use its lunar missions to lay the groundwork for its first crewed mission to Mars.
