The ongoing memory shortage is pushing laptop prices higher, and gaming laptops have been especially affected. Despite manufacturers introducing “new” 2026 models with graphics cards such as the more than three-year-old RTX 4050, the Lenovo LOQ 15 remains a standout option under $1,500, combining strong gaming performance with a quality IPS display.
Why the Lenovo LOQ 15 stands out
The LOQ 15 is not the thinnest or most powerful gaming laptop available, but few competitors come close to matching its value at this price. Its cost has increased over the past year, after selling for less than $1,000 during the first few months of 2026, yet it remains technologically ahead of many similarly priced laptops.
One of its biggest advantages is the display. Many affordable gaming laptops use screens with disappointing, desaturated colors that can detract from the gaming experience. The LOQ 15 instead offers a high-quality IPS panel, making games look more vivid and engaging.
RTX 5060 configuration delivers strong performance
The Lenovo LOQ 15 is currently available with an RTX 5060 for $1,300. That price is not especially low compared with the past few months, but the RTX 5060 represents a significant upgrade over the RTX 5050. The system can supply up to 100 watts of power to the graphics card, helping it deliver strong performance.
Every game tested ran at well over 60 frames per second using the medium preset, including demanding titles such as Black Myth: Goku and Monster Hunter Wilds. Players can raise frame rates further by reducing graphical settings or enabling upscaling.
Amazon sells the RTX 5060 configuration with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage for $1,300. Lenovo also offers an RTX 5050 configuration for less:
The RTX 5050 model has the same other specifications as the listed RTX 5060 configuration. Several other gaming laptops tested at this price, including the MSI Cyborg A16 and Acer Nitro V 16, failed to match the LOQ 15. The Alienware 15 and Lenovo LOQ Essential 15 also experienced the same issue: they did not offer a comparable overall package.
Should you wait for a better deal?
Newer and less expensive gaming laptops may eventually provide stronger competition, but none of those tested has displaced the Lenovo LOQ 15. Buyers could wait for Black Friday in the hope of a lower price, although prices have not changed dramatically in recent months. Amazon Prime Day in October offered discounts, but it did not produce unusually large sales.
For now, the Lenovo LOQ 15 remains a compelling choice for affordable gaming, particularly because it combines an RTX 5060 option with a display that avoids one of the most common compromises in budget gaming laptops.
